The CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was fatally shot twice in the chest outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown, Manhattan, on the morning of December 4, 2024. The incident took place around 6:46 a.m. and is believed to be a targeted attack. Police have reported that a masked man fired at Thompson before fleeing eastbound on 6th Avenue. Thompson was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities are currently searching for the suspect. This event occurred just before Thompson was scheduled to speak at an investors meeting hosted by UnitedHealth Group at the hotel.
