MARYSVILLE, Ohio — A 27-year-old Ohio man, Micaiah Swindler, has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his 59-year-old father, Joe Swindler, to death following a heated argument over dirty dishes. The incident, which occurred on April 21, 2025, in Marysville, culminated in a chilling 911 call where Micaiah calmly admitted, “I’m not going to lie. I just killed my father,” according to police reports and audio obtained by local media.

The altercation reportedly began as a domestic dispute at the family’s residence. Authorities say the argument escalated when Micaiah, frustrated over his father’s insistence on cleaning dishes, allegedly attacked Joe with a knife. Police arrived at the scene to find Joe Swindler deceased from multiple stab wounds. Micaiah, who remained at the home, placed the 911 call himself, repeating his confession to a stunned dispatcher: “I killed my dad.”

Posts on X and local news reports indicate Micaiah claimed during the call that he acted on divine orders, stating, “God told me to,” though these details await further verification in court.

The Marysville Police Department, in a statement to WSYX News, described the incident as a tragic case of domestic violence. Micaiah was arrested at the scene and is currently held in Union County Jail, charged with murder. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month, with prosecutors expected to present evidence from the 911 call and forensic analysis.

Neighbors expressed shock, describing Joe Swindler as a quiet, hardworking man. “It’s hard to believe something like this could happen over something so trivial,” one neighbor told WSYX News. The case has sparked discussions on social media, with some X users highlighting the senselessness of the violence.

This incident underscores the devastating consequences of unresolved domestic conflicts, leaving a community grappling with grief and questions about what could drive such an act. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
