Firefighters are currently engaged in battling a significant fire at the former Virginia Intermont College campus in Bristol, Virginia, which has spread to multiple buildings. Heavy smoke and large flames have been visible since the fire started shortly after midnight. The cause of the fire remains unknown as emergency services continue their efforts. The main building on the campus collapsed around 2 AM, and the blaze has been described as a "tragedy for our city" by Bristol City Councilman Neal Osborne. Multiple road closures are in effect around the area, including Moore, Buchanan, Maple, Russell, Boulder Lane, Lester, and parts of Oak View, to aid in firefighting efforts and manage the situation. Schools in the vicinity have implemented delays or closures due to the fire's impact on local access and safety.
