PENSACOLA, FL – Naval Technical Training Center (NTTC) Corry Station in Pensacola, Florida, was placed under lockdown on Thursday morning after reports of possible gunshots were heard on the base around 10 a.m. The incident prompted a swift and robust response from local law enforcement and Navy Security Forces, who descended on the scene to secure the area and investigate the source of the disturbance.
Authorities conducted an extensive search of the facility and surrounding areas, prioritizing the safety of personnel and residents on the base. Escambia County Sheriff David Simmons provided an update later in the day, confirming that no injuries had been reported and no evidence of an active shooter was discovered. “Out of an abundance of caution, we treated the situation with the utmost seriousness,” Sheriff Simmons said in a statement. “After a thorough sweep, we’re confident there’s no ongoing threat, but we’ll continue to monitor and investigate.”
The lockdown, which disrupted normal operations at the training center, was enacted as a precautionary measure while officials worked to determine the origin of the reported sounds. Corry Station, a key hub for naval technical and cybersecurity training, has not released additional details about the incident at this time. The all-clear was eventually given, though the investigation remains ongoing to rule out any potential risks.
