Nancy Mace attacked at the Capitol building


Representative Nancy Mace from South Carolina reported that she was "physically accosted" on Capitol Hill grounds on the evening of December 10, 2024. The incident took place in the Rayburn House Office Building. The suspect, identified as James McIntyre from Illinois, was arrested by Capitol Police and charged with assaulting a government official. Mace mentioned sustaining injuries to her wrist and arm, requiring a new wrist brace and ice for treatment, but stated she would "heal just fine." She attributed the attack to her stance on transgender issues, specifically her efforts to protect women's spaces, including her recent proposal to ban transgender women from using women's restrooms at the Capitol. Following the incident, Mace reaffirmed her commitment to her cause, using the hashtag #HoldTheLine and stating that threats and violence would not deter her fight for women's safety.
