New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick was involved in an incident where she struck two pedestrians with her vehicle in August 2024 in the French Quarter. This incident took place at the intersection of Decatur and Iberville Streets. At the time, Kirkpatrick was on duty and had just visited an injured officer at the hospital. She took a breathalyzer and urinalysis test as per departmental protocol, with the breathalyzer showing a 0.00 blood alcohol concentration. The woman who was hit was treated for minor injuries and released, while the man involved did not claim any injuries. The case was set to be reviewed by the Louisiana State Police after the New Orleans Police Department's Traffic Section completed its investigation.
This incident occurred in the same area where, on New Year's Day 2025, a deadly terror attack took place, killing 15 people and injuring many others. The terror attack involved a truck driven by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, who was identified as an ISIS-inspired individual. Kirkpatrick has been vocal about the attack, describing it as "evil" and stating that the perpetrator was "hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did."
