Yesterday, April 21, 2025, New York City Police responded to Trump Tower around 4:30 p.m. after reports of a disorderly individual described as "emotionally disturbed" attempting to access the roof or an elevated surface within the building. The NYPD's Emergency Service Unit, including the Technical Assistance Response Unit (TARU) and Hostage Negotiation Team, was deployed to the scene, with potential FBI involvement. The suspect was apprehended on the 5th floor without incident, and no injuries were reported. The individual was taken into custody, though specific charges remain unclear as the investigation continues. Video footage showed security evacuating the atrium and police exiting the building, some wearing helmets and safety harnesses typically used for high-place rescues. The motive for the incident has not been disclosed.
