  • 461 AD: Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is believed to have died on this day in Saul, Downpatrick. His missionary work helped spread Christianity across Ireland, and his legacy is celebrated annually on St. Patrick’s Day.

  • 1776: During the American Revolutionary War, British forces evacuated Boston after George Washington fortified Dorchester Heights with cannons, ending an 11-month siege. This was a pivotal moment, marking the first major American victory in the war.
